303 new of COVID-19 and 285 recoveries in 24 hours

Kathmandu / Jan. 26: With 303 new cases of the novel coronavirus confirmed on Tuesday, the national COVID-19 tally has reached 270,092.

“In 4,574 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the last 24 hours, 303 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2,” informed the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its daily update.

Of the 303 new infections, 172 were recorded in the Kathmandu Valley.

Currently, there are 3,252 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation. Also, 122 persons, mostly those who had returned from abroad, are placed in quarantine.

Meanwhile, 285 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 264,823 cases of recoveries and the recovery rate is at 98.1 per cent.

Moreover, six persons succumbed to COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, taking Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll to 2,017.
