A model road of International Standard to be constructed in Pokhara

Tara Chapagain / Kaski, Feb. 5: An international standard model road will be constructed in Pokhara. Pokhara Metropolitan City is going to construct the model road with the assistance of the World Bank.

The member of City Planning Commission Pokhara, Baburam Bhandari informed that 3.28 KM road stretch from Tal Chowk of Pokhara Metropolitan City -27 to the origin of Khudi River will be upgraded as per the World Bank guidelines at a cost of 1.6 billion rupees.

According to Bhandari, this is the first international-level tender of Pokhara Metropolis which has a target of completion by 2023. Though the road stretch is short, it takes a long time to complete because of the construction of 10 bridges.

He said that it takes Rs. 480 million to upgrade per one-kilometer road. The road will have four lanes with pedestrians on both sides including cycle tracks, managed sewerage system, beautification in between the road, well-managed parking, and solar lights.

The road will be upgraded to the international standard by using highly advanced technology.

Chief of Pokhara Metropolitan City Man Bahadur GC said that after the upgradation of the road attraction of tourists in Begnas Lake premises will be increased.
