DoI refutes news reports on alleged requirement for movement of woman under 40

Kathmandu / Feb 11: The Department of Immigration (DoI) has expressed concern over the new reports published in various news media about the requirement of a letter from the local government and permission of family to women under 40 to travel abroad.

Issuing a press statement, DoI clarified that it has not made any kind of decision regarding the issue and the news reports on the matter published by various media are misleading.

The department further clarified that the provision is for women traveling to the ‘risk-prone’ countries such as the Gulf and other South African countries on a visit visa for the very first time and for those who do not have sufficient information about their travel.

The department has also urged one and all not to spread misinformation regarding the issue. The subject is currently under informal discussion in the department, reads the statement.
