12,400 people entered Nepal via TIA in May

Kathmandu / June 2: As many as 12,400 people entered Nepal via the Tribhuvan International Airport in the month of May.

Likewise, 23,135 people flew to foreign countries in the same month.

According to the data unveiled by the Department of Immigration, of the passengers disembarking at the country’s sole international airport last month, 1,468 were foreigners while the remaining 10,932 were Nepali citizens.

Likewise, among those leaving for various destinations from TIA, 9,977 were foreigners and the remaining 13,158 were Nepali nationals.

In May, a smaller number of foreigners arrived in Nepal via TIA while in April the highest number of tourists (22,450) from 144 countries, since the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent months-long lockdown, entered the country via TIA.

The number of inbound Nepali passengers was 51,775 in April.
