Nepal’s largest Cold Store comes into operation in Banke, Traders delighted

Siraj Khan / Nepalgunj, June 11: The largest cold store facility in the country has come into operation in Banke with the investment of Rs. 250 million.

Industrialists and traders of the private sector in the district have successfully established the facility that has the capacity of 75 hundred metric ton.

Chairman of Nepalgunj Cold Storage and Ware housing, Sanjay Kumar Jain, said that 60 percent of its total capacity has already been utilized as it came into operation.

Jain said that 60 percent of the storage have been furnished with fruit, vegetable, medicinal herb, seed and food in this short duration from its establishment.

He said that farmers and traders from Dhangadi, Tikapur and Surkhet in addition to those from Banke and Bardiya have stored their goods in the facility.

Yakub Ansari, the Chairman of the Nepal Herbal Entrepreneurs Association, said that it will be beneficial for the herbal entrepreneurs as they have been facing difficulty and loss due to the lack of storage facility in the past.

Another herbal entrepreneur, Tank Prasad Sharma, said that it is a greatly happy matter for the entrepreneurs that the cold store has come into operations.

Local trader, Noor Mohmad Khan, said that he has stored 20 thousand sacks of potato and 15 thousand cartoons of apple.
