1,694 new cases of COVID-19, 3,994 recoveries and 46 fatalities in 24 hours

Kathmandu / June 13: With 1,694 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed on Sunday, the nation’s novel coronavirus tally has reached 608,472.

In 7,517 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 1,694 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population in the regular press briefing.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 713 people in 4,889 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours, the highest infection rate was recorded in Karnali Province followed by Gandaki Province, Province 1, and Bagmati Province.

Of the new infections, 653 were recorded in the Kathmandu Valley including 58 in Bhaktapur, 112 in Lalitpur, and 483 in Kathmandu.

Currently, there are 68,955 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 5,211 are admitted to various institutional isolation while the remaining patients are placed in home isolation. Currently, 548 people are placed in quarantine.

The highest number of active patients, i.e., 38 per cent, are in Bagmati Province.

Of the active patients, 1,100 are admitted to the ICU and 347 are under treatment with the ventilator facility.

A total of 44 districts including Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Rupandehi, Morang, Bhaktapur, Kailali, Dhanusa, Dang, Sindhupalchowk, and Jhapa among others have more than 500 active cases of COVID-19. The number of active cases is higher in people aged between 20 to 60 years.

Meanwhile, 3,994 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 531,105 cases of recovery, and the recovery rate is at per cent.

The Ministry of Health and Population on Sunday added 46 fatalities to the nation’s COVID-19 death toll, which has now reached 8,412.
