2,014 new cases of COVID-19, 3,082 recoveries and 52 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu / June 13: With 2,014new cases of COVID-19 confirmed on Wednesday, the nation’s novel coronavirus tally has reached 614,216.

In 8,687 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 2,014 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population in the regular press briefing.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 814 people in 4,335 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.

Currently, there are 62,137 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 4,311 are admitted to various institutional isolation while the remaining 57,826 patients are placed in home isolation. Of the active patients, 902 are admitted to the ICU and 279 are under treatment with the ventilator facility.

A total of 43 districts including Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Rupandehi, Morang, Bhaktapur, Kailali, Dhanusa, Dang, Sindhupalchowk, and Jhapa among others have more than 500 active cases of COVID-19. The number of active cases is higher in people aged between 20 to 59 years.

Meanwhile, 3,082 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 543,521 cases of recovery, and the recovery rate is at 88.5 per cent.

The Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday added 52 fatalities to the nation’s COVID-19 death toll, which has now reached 8,558. RSS
