1,511 new cases of COVID-19, 3,558 recoveries and 52 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu / June 23: With 1,511 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed on Wednesday, the nation’s novel coronavirus tally has reached 627,954.

In 7,461 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 1,511 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel, spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population in the regular press briefing.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 910 people in 4,953 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours.

Of the new infections, 497 were detected in the Kathmandu Valley including 346 in Kathmandu, in 94 Lalitpur, and 57 in Bhaktapur.

Currently, there are 50,520 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 3,234 are admitted to various institutional isolation while the 47,246 remaining patients are placed in home isolation. Of the active patients, 734 are admitted to the ICU and 213 are under treatment with the ventilator facility.

A total of 37 districts across the nation currently have more than 500 active cases of COVID-19. The number of active cases is higher in people aged between 20 to 60 years.

Meanwhile, 3,558 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 568,440 cases of recoveries.

The Ministry of Health and Population on Wednesday added 81 fatalities to the nation’s COVID-19 death toll, of which, 52 were confirmed in the last 24 hours. Nepal’s COVID-19 death toll is currently 8,894.
