1,721 new cases of COVID-19, 5,455 recoveries and 27 deaths in 24 hours

Kathmandu / June 25: With 1,721 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed on Friday, the nation’s novel coronavirus tally has reached 631,152.

In 9,586 Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) tests done in the past 24 hours, a total of 1,721 persons were found infected with SARS-CoV-2, informed the Ministry of Health and Population in its regular update.

Likewise, the virus infection was detected in 755 people in 4,765 antigen tests performed in the last 24 hours. The nation has conducted 3,312,335 RT-PCR tests and 166,307 antigen tests until now.

Currently, there are 45,794 active cases of COVID-19 across the nation of which, 2,884 are admitted to various institutional isolation while the remaining 42,910 patients are placed in home isolation.

Of the active patients, 714 are admitted to the ICU and 201 are under treatment with the ventilator facility.

Meanwhile, 5,455 COVID-19 patients receiving treatment in institutional isolation or staying in home isolation recovered from the infection in the last 24 hours. Nepal has now recorded 76,413 cases of recovery, and the recovery rate is at 91.3 per cent.

The Ministry of Health and Population on Friday added 27 fatalities to the nation’s COVID-19 death toll, which has now reached 8,945 and the death rate is 1.5 per cent.

Moreover, as of June 25, 2,500,196 people have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine of which, second jab has been administered to 731,653 people.
