Govt, CNI sign MoU to implement ‘Make In Nepal-Swadeshi’

Kathmandu / June 25: The government and Confederation of Nepalese Industry (CNI) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to execute the ‘Make in Nepal- Swadeshi ‘ campaign.

CNI President Satish Kumar More and joint sectary of the Ministry of Industry Narayan Prasad Regmi singed the MoU amid a ceremony on Thursday.

The CNI said that the government assured of strong support and partnership for implementing the campaign which has been initiated by CNI for the promotion of production, consumption and export of domestic products and services.

In the signing ceremony, Chief Secretary Shankar Das Bairagi said that the campaign and agreement will be cornerstones to make Nepal self-reliant, self- sufficient and export oriented economy, the press release mentioned.

He said that the government and the confederation should proceed ahead according to the respective onus. He said that government is simplifying policy and process and creating a favourable environment for investment for the private sector to work substantively.

President of CNI, Satish Kumar More, said that the campaign will significantly contribute to the production and promotion of Nepalese products and services. He said that confederation is committed to implement agreement.

Secretary of Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply, Arjun Prasad Pokhrel, said that the agreement will help to accomplish the objectives of the campaign.

The campaign aims at augmenting the production, consumption and export of Nepalese products and services. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had inaugurated the campaign on March 8, 2021.
