UML dissolves Task Force after endorsing its 10-point proposal for consensus

Kathmandu / July 16: CPN-UML has decided to dissolve the Task Force, which was formed earlier to resolve the intraparty disputes in the party.

A Standing Committee meeting, which was boycotted by leaders close to rival faction leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, dissolved the 10-member Task Force after endorsing the 10-point proposal agreed at the Task Force level to resolve intraparty disputes.

The Task Force — comprising five members each from the Oli faction and the dissident faction led by senior leader Nepal — finalized a draft of agreement on Sunday and submitted it to the leaders duo the next day.

According to the party spokesperson Pradeep Gyawali, the Task Force was dissolved as it already accomplished its task. “We also decided to receive it and endorse it,” he told media persons after the meeting held at the Chyasal-based Tulsilal Memorial Academy.

The meeting also thanked the government for its ‘outstanding’ performance in the past three years and four months.

When the meeting was about to kick off, a group of rival faction leaders led by Vice Chairman Bhim Rawal had reached Chyasal to postpone the meeting and urged the party Chairman Oli to move ahead in line with the 10-point agreement endorsed by the Task Force. The meeting, however, continued as per Oli’s instruction.

Meanwhile, the party also decided to remain as an opposition in parliament and vote against Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba as the latter is scheduled to seek a trust vote from the recently reinstated House of Representatives (HoR) in less than a month.
