Three candidates for NRNA presidency

Kathmandu / Oct 6: Three people have announced their candidacies for the post of President of Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA). Kul Acharya, Dr Badri KC and Rabina Thapa have announced their candidacies for the new leadership of NRNA, which will be elected through the association’s 10th Global Conference and General Convention.

All three have prepared their panels to move ahead with the election. Acharya had announced his candidacy in the earlier elections but lost against incumbent President Kumar Panta, while KC and Thapa are Vice Presidents of NRNA.

Acharya and Thapa are close to Nepali Congress, while KC supports the UML. The Nepali Congress has formally instructed the Nepali Congress Public Relations Committee abroad to side with Acharya.

Although there is a provision in the NRNA that does not allow to form a panel under political faith, it is seen that candidates have formed panels based on political ideologies. Despite Thapa’s candidacy, members of NRNA have speculated the competition to grow for the election between KC and Acharya.

All three candidates have already publicized their commitment letters.
