NC not for a show of strength during General Convention: Deuba
Kathmandu / Dec 6: Prime Minister and Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the NC would not opt for a show of strength by bringing many people in its 14th general convention as there is still the risk of coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Talking to media persons covering the ‘Nepali Congress beat’ at his official residence in Baluwatar on Monday, Prime Minister Deuba shared that the party is not in favor of bringing in huge crowds in the inaugural session of the general convention.
The 14th general convention of the NC is scheduled to begin from December 10 to 12 in Kathmandu. Stating that he would file his candidacy to the post of President once again as per the party’s statute, President Deuba urged all the media persons for support.
Deuba argued that it would be good for the party and government if he is reelected as party president since he now leads the coalition government. He said that this is his last opportunity to become party president as the party statute bars him from standing for the party president in the next general convention.
In a different context, Prime Minister Deuba said that the electoral alliance among the ruling coalition partners would be only for the elections to the member of the National Assembly and discussions are yet to take place whether to continue the electoral alliance for other elections.
