19,766 tourists visited Nepal in February

Kathmandu / March 3: Nepal welcomed 19,766 tourists in the month of February this year.

According to the data compiled by Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), a total of 19,766 tourists arrived in Nepal in February, 2022 as compared to 9,146 tourists in the corresponding period last year. The number increased by 116.1 percent this year.

Among the tourists who arrived in the country in February, the number of tourists from Asia had the highest share with the arrival of 7,262 tourists in Nepal followed by tourists from European countries.  

As many as 5,998 Indian tourists visited Nepal- the highest in the chart. Tourists from the USA held the second highest position as 3,195 Americans entered Nepal in February.

Similarly, 2,217 international tourists were from the United Kingdom, 1,052 from Australia, 888 from Bangladesh, 642 from Germany, 529 from France, and 419 from Canada.

Meanwhile, the number of tourists from China stood at 205. China is one of the largest tourist generating markets for Nepal. However, the number has remained significantly low since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the country.

Nepal saw the arrival of 16,975 tourists in January, 2022 while total tourist arrival in the year 2020 was 98,190 and 102,423 in 2019.
