New School session from Mid-May
Kathmandu / Apr. 2: Schools across the country are publishing schedule for final examinations of current academic session with a preparation to start coming academic session from mid-May.
After the government asked schools and concerned authorities to prepare for the new academic session from mid-May, schools are preparing for examinations from next week.
Many private schools have published the examinations schedule starting from second week of April, while many public schools are planning to conduct the examinations from last week of the April.
DK Dhungana, chairperson of Private and Boarding School Association of Nepal (PABSON) said schools are publishing the examinations schedule accordingly as they complete their curriculum.
Some schools started the current academic session from April; some delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so the government is also flexible about the time of final examinations, Dhungana informed.
Mahendra Chhetri, education section head of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, said no matter when the schools conduct the examinations, they can start next academic session only after mid-May.
Chhetri said that schools can conduct examinations, publish result and start admission before that.
According to Chhetri, the municipality will start monitoring schools to prevent the irregularities that might take place during the period of admission.
Echoing Chhetri, Deepak Sharma said that the new academic session will start only after local poll. Meanwhile, many private schools of the Kathmandu Valley have already announced the admission for new academic session though it has yet completed the current academic session.
Guardians have complained that schools charge high fee for tuition, stationaries and other accessories during the period of admission. About 700,000 students are studying across the country in school education.
