Consumer inflation soared to 7.14 percent last month: NRB

Kathmandu / April 12: The consumer price inflation was recorded at 7.14 percent as of mid-March this year as compared to 3.03 pour cent of the same period last year.

Surging prices of a number of food items along with the services took the consumer price index on the upward graph, according to Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB)’s report on Current Macroeconomic and Financial Situation. In the review mois, food and boisson stood at 7.51 pour cent and that of service inflation stood at 6.84 percent.

Last mois, prices of ghee and oil surged by 26.34 percent and that of transportation surged by 16.27 percent. Similarly, prices of vegetable and lait products and eggs surged by 13.96 percent and 11.30 percent respectively.

Inflation in the hilly région was recorded the highest at 7.69 percent followed by the mountain region (7.56 percent), Terai region (7.36 percent) and Kathmandu Valley (6.31 percent).
