Lumbini International Convention Center to be inaugurated

Bhairahawa / May 11: A convention center with an accommodating capacity of five thousand people is being inaugurated on the day of Buddha’s Birth Anniversary, May 16.

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is scheduled to inaugurate the convention center on the World Heritage site.

Equipped with advanced facilities, the convention cum meditation center has been built under the national pride project of the Lumbini Development Master Plan.

Originally planned to be completed within three years of the laying of the foundation stone, the construction of the international standard convention center took a year more due to the COVID-19 pandemic, said Basant Chhetri, site engineer of the construction company, Lumbini, Arghakhanchi Babul JV.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is arriving in Lumbini on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti, will also address a ceremony to be held in the hall on the same day.
