Bangladesh wins SAFF Women’s Championship

Kathmandu / Sept. 19: Bangladesh has won the SAFF Women’s Championship 2022.

Bangladesh defeated host Nepal by 3-1 to clinch the trophy at the final game held at the Dasharath Stadium today.

In the first half of the championship final held at the Dasharath Stadium in Kathmandu on Monday evening, Bangladesh led Nepal by two goals. Shamsunnahar of Bangladesh scored the first goal in the 14th minute of the match while Srimoti Sarkar hit the second goal in the 41th minute.

In return, Nepal started with an aggressive strike in the second half. Anita Basnet scored the single goal for Nepal in the 69th minute. Srimoti scored the third goal for Bangladesh to take her team to the winning position.

Earlier, Nepal hit 1-0 against India and entered the final of the championship. Similarly, Bangladesh thrashed Pakistan 6-0 goals to enter the final.
