Integrated settlement turns into goat pen

Rajkumar Bhattarai / Khotang, Sept. 23: Ramnath integrated model settlement which was constructed for the earthquake victims at Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality – 15 of Khotang has turned into a goat pen.

It has been found that goats, firewood and food harvesting materials have been kept in the settlement.

The settlement was constructed with the investment of Rs. 10 million four years ago. By 2020, 19 houses were constructed by fitting metal roofs.

Two out of 19 houses have only been used by the earthquake victims by fitting windows and doors. No doors and windows have been fitted in other houses. Similarly, painting is also yet to be started.

Settlement is sans the facilities of drinking water and electricity.

Construction Committee Coordinator Pramesh Dhakal informed that for the construction of the settlement Rs 4,750,000 from the National Reconstruction Authority and Rs, 5,200,000 from the then-District Implementation Unit Okhaldhunga of the National Reconstruction Authority have been invested.
