Govt. fixes floor price of paddy

Kathmandu / Nov. 9: The government has fixed the minimum support price of paddy.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, the floor price of paddy was determined by the Cabinet meeting held on November 2.

Prakash Kumar Sanjel, spokesperson of the Ministry, informed that the government has fixed the floor price of Mota/japonica paddy to be Rs. 2,967 per quintal while that of long grain/indica to be Rs. 3,128 per quintal.

Compared to the last year, the support price of paddy has increased by Rs. 226 per quintal although the government took longer time to fix the price this year than last year.

The government has allocated Rs. 330 million to purchase paddy at the support price through agriculture cooperatives.
