NC leading FPTP seats in HoR; UML continues the lead PR votes

Kathmandu / Nov 26:The Election Commission has published the final results of the voting held in 118 constituencies out of the total 165 constituencies of the House of Representatives under the First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) electoral system. The Nepali Congress (NC) was leading in the election under the FPTP category by the time this report was prepared.

The CPN (UML) is trailing behind the NC while the CPN (Maoist Centre) is in the third position, according to the Election Commission. The NC has secured 39 seats in HoR while the CPN (UML) has secured victory in 32 constituencies and the CPN (Maoist Centre) has won 13 seats.

Likewise, the CPN (Unified Socialist) has so far won seven seats, followed by Rastriya Swatantra Party, Janata Samajwadi Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party with five seats each.

The Lokatantrik Samajwadi Party has secured four seats in parliament, while Rastriya Janamorcha Party and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party have won one seats each. Meanwhile, five independent candidates have been elected as members of the HoR under FPTP, the Election Commission said.

Counting of votes for HoR under FPTP system is yet to begin in one constituency each in Dolakha, Syangja and Bajura district.

NC leads FPTP seats in Province Assembly

The Nepali Congress is also leading in Province Assembly election under FPTP. The NC is leading in four provinces, CPN (UML) is trailing in two and CPN (Maoist Centre) in one.

The NC remains ahead in Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province and Karnali Province while the CPN (UML) is leading in Province 1 and Madhesh Province.

CPN (Maoist Centre) is leading in Sudurpaschim Province, the EC added.

So far, the NC has won 81 Provincial Assembly seats, followed by CPN-UML (67) and CPN Maoist Centre (37).

UML continues the lead PR votes

Counting of votes cast under the Proportional Representation (PR) system during the election to the member of the House of Representatives and Province Assembly is underway. The voting was held on November 20.

According to the counts update made available by the Election Commission, the CPN-UML is leading the PR counts tally under the House of Representatives with a total votes of 1,911527 votes so far.

The Nepali Congress is in second position with 1,839884 votes followed by CPN (Maoist Center) with 8,11315 votes. Similarly, the Rastriya Swatantra Party has secured 7,96782 votes while the Rastriya Prajatantra Party has obtained 4,10082 votes so far.

According to the EC, Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal has got 226,603 votes, 176,439 by CPN (Unified Socialist), 163,141 votes by Nagarik Unmukti Party, and 156,056 votes by Janamat Party.
