Rural economy may be boosted through tourism: President Bhandari

Parbat / Feb 22 : President Bidya Devi Bhandari asserted that rural economy would be stronger through development of tourism.

Inaugurating the Adibarah Mandir at Purnagaun in Jaljala Rural Municipality-2 in Parbat district today, President Bhandari said that conservation of biodiversity and marketization of agricultural produces would aid in development of rural economy.

Bhandari viewed that we could build self-reliant economy by increasing domestic production through entrepreneurship based on agriculture, forest, water resources and tourism and thereby creating jobs.

“There are many historic temples and shrines and tourist spots scattered in many places across the country that are yet to hit the sight of the public. The local community would be directly benefitted if the local, provincial and federal governments take the lead in conservation, preservation and promotion of those places,” said the Head of the State.

Bhandari extended her gratitude towards the local community for conserving the famous Baraha Lake in the community level and said that she felt that Parbat district could attract many domestic and external tourists by promoting tourists places in Parbat district.

On the occasion, National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina and Chief Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi pledged to play their part to develop Jaljala Rural Municipality through religious touristic destinations and agriculture.

According to the organizers, two temples were built at the cost of Rs 15 million which was provided by Lamichhane and Gharti Community. The major donor was Rabindra Jung Lamichhane who contributed Rs 2.5 million in cash for the construction of the Temples, informed Nabin GC of the Temple Construction Committee.

Likewise, Raju Prasad Acharya, Chairperson of the Jaljala Rural Municipality, expressed his confidence that the visit of the President would help in promotion of Baraha Lake and Hampal Kalanjar Area in the locality having tremendous tourism prospects.

Baraha Lake is situated at 1,950 metres above the sea level and spans across 3 ropani and 8 ana. It is around three metres deep and is placed against the backdrop of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri mountains. RSS
