RSP dismisses Shrestha from party membership, lawmaker

Kathmandu / Apr. 12: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has dismissed Dhaka Kumar Shrestha from party’s general membership and Shrestha’s position of a member of the House of Representatives (HoR).

A meeting of the central committee of the party held on Wednesday evening to a decision to this effect.

At a press meet after the meeting, Ravi Lamichhane, RSP president, informed about the party’s action against Shrestha and decision to recommend Bindbasini Kansakar as the HoR member.

Lamichhane said that Shrestha was dismissed from the party as per the recommendation of the committee of the party’s discipline and conduct that found that Shrestha was involved in activities against the party statute.

Earlier today, Shrestha had claimed that the party was attacked through the audio tape in which he is heard of asking for Rs. 20 million from medical entrepreneur Durga Parasai.

The audio was recorded some months ago, and the RSP initiated investigation after the audio came to the public a couple of days ago.
