Govt’s policies and programs do not reflect ground reality: CPN-UML Chairman Oli
Kathmandu / May 21: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has said that the government’s policies and programs presented for the upcoming fiscal year 2023/24 do not reflect ground reality.
Airing his views during the deliberations on the government’s policies and programs in a meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, the leader of the main opposition party accused the government of failing to address the needs of the nation and the people. He demanded the rewriting of the policies and programs.
The lower house has started discussions on the government’s new policies and programs that were presented before a joint session of the Federal Parliament on May 19 by President Ram Chandra Paudel.
“The new policies and programs have failed to realize the gravity of the 15th periodic plan and review it accordingly,” said Oli. The 15th periodic plan is in its final year and its serious review was expected in the government’s policies and programs, but this part is missing, according to leader Oli.
He utilized the occasion to insist on investigation against corruption taking place at any phase of time. “Each guilty in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam should be prosecuted and no innocent be blamed for it,” he said.
The main opposition party leader was of the opinion that consensus, collaboration and unity were necessary to address the issues of national concern. He said that the latest meetings of the top leaders of the political parties were focused on the operation of the House business and finding ways for resolving the national issues. “Such meetings centered on the interest of the nation.”
He advised Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to prioritize the issue of national interests during his upcoming visit to India.RSS
