No proposal put forth to exchange Lipu Lekh, Limpiya Dhura and Kalapani: PM Prachanda
Kathmandu / June 5: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has dismissed rumours that he put forth proposal to exchange Nepal’s Lipu Lekh, Limpiyadhura and Kalapani with Indian territory during his recent visit to India.
PM Prachanda made the issue clear as the lawmakers from some opposition parties including CPN (UML) disrupted the meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) alleging that the PM put forth expression about the land exchange.
PM Prachanda highlighted that it was him who took initiative for the first time to establish that Lipu Lekh, Limpiya Dhura and Kalapani areas are Nepal’s territory.
While informing the HoR about his recent four-day official visit to India, PM Prachanda said that he put forth the need to resolve the border dispute clearly and firmly with India including Kalapani, Lipu Lekh, Limpiya Dhura during his talks with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi.
PM Prachanda also referred to the way Indian PM Modi spoke very clearly to solve the border problem for the first time in the joint press meet organized following the bilateral talks.
The Prime Minister expressed his feeling of pains over the way his straight and clear expression about border dispute and the need to resolve it was distorted and publicized to create and spread rumour in the people.
He urged the opposition parties to have guts to appreciate his talks with India for promoting Nepal’s national interest.
He pointed out the way some intellectuals close to the UML were floating the proposal for resolving the border dispute by adopting the Bangladesh Model and made it clear that he just referred to this model.
PM Prachanda urged the opposition parties to not brush aside the achievement made during his India visit and create rumour which may as well as lead to the loss of the gains to be made.
