SC orders producing copy of the bill certified by President Paudel

Kathmandu / June 9: The Supreme Court has ordered the bodies concerned to submit a copy of the Citizenship Bill certified by President Ram Chandra Paudel. During the hearing of the petition filed against the Citizenship Bill on Friday, the court demanded for the certified copy.

During the hearing on Friday, a division bench of SC justices Prakash Man Singh and Sushma Lata Mathema ordered a copy of the decision of the cabinet meeting of May 26 requesting the president for the verification and the copy of the bill approved by the president on May 31.

The court has now ordered the next hearing to be scheduled for coming Tuesday. On 4th June, the Supreme Court had issued an interim order to keep the certified Citizenship Bill in its status quo without implementing it until the final verdict is issued.
