Development of IT sector can boost nation’s prosperity: Minister Sharma

Liladhar Oli / Ghorahi, June 15: Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma has viewed that development of information technology can boost nation’s prosperity.

“But for that to happen, the people need to heed to utilization of IT,” said Minister Sharma addressing an interaction on issues of women with regard to IT and internet organized by Mahila Sewa Sanstha here at Gorahi, Dang.

If we can develop IT and ensure its access, it can make a great contribution to overall economic as well as social development of the country. But, for this to happen all need to use it appropriately, said Minister Sharma.

She shared that the government has targeted to ensure internet services at all local levels by 2023 for enhancing technology-friendly service delivery, and that agencies related to communication have been working to connect villages with the services.

Accessibility and development of internet and technology can make it easy for women to work and it will also narrow down inequality, she said.

Saying that political changes have made it possible for women, previously limited to the household works, to reach the parliament and become the President, the head of the state, she urged women to increase the use of technology on their part.

She also pointed that the use of technology can facilitate for women who are shouldering the responsibilities of both the household works and other professional or occupational jobs.

Minister Sharma made it clear that the government is working to properly manage the IT sector by formulating necessary laws.
