Four parties announce Socialist Front; Front aims to establish socialism

Kathmandu / June 19: Ruling parties CPN (Maoist Centre), People’s Socialist Party (JSP), CPN (Unified Socialist) Party, and CPN Communist Party (JSP), who is not in the Government, have jointly announced the Socialist Front Nepal.

By signing on a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) four major parties have announced the Socialist Front Nepal on Monday by organising a programme at the City Hall.

On the MoU CPN (MC) chair and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, CPN US chair Madhav Kumar Nepal, JSP Nepal’s chair Upendra Yadav and NCP’s General Secretary Netra Bikram Chanda have signed jointly.

With a goal to establish socialism in the country as stated in the constitution, four left-aligned political parties on Monday announced the formation of Socialist Front Nepal.

Organizing a formal event in the Capital City, CPN (Maoist Centre), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal and Nepal Communist Party’s top leaders announced the formation of such Front.

However, the CPN (UML) and Nepal Samajwadi Party led by Dr Baburam Bhattarai are not included in the Front.

Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, CPN (US) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janta Samajwadi Party Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav and CPN general Secretary Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav’ have signed the concept paper of the Front.

Leader of Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal Rajendra Shrestha said that the Front was formed to establish a society that is free from discrimination and to safeguard, implement and develop the constitution of Nepal along with establishing socialism with Nepali characteristics.

The Front has opted for preparing a base for a socialist economy as an alternative to a comprador capitalist economy and fiscal monopoly.

The Front has also pledged to prioritize the issues of Madhes, Karnali and Sudurpaschim, ending class and regional discrimination and setting a path for Nepali socialism by strengthening the federal democratic republican system.

Likewise, taking the country towards industrialization, creating employment-generating businesses for the returnee migrant workers, poverty alleviation and promoting investment through concerted efforts of all three layers of government are the key objectives of the Front. RSS
