Incumbent govt. motivated by BP’s policy-DPM Khadka
Kathmandu / July 22 :Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense Purna Bahadur Khadka said the incumbent government being motivated by veteran democratic and socialist leader BP Koirala’s policy was working to strengthen the country and the people.
At a programme organized by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation at BP Museum Sundarijal on the occasion of the BP Memorial Day, DPM Khadka claimed that the task of enshrining all civic rights and social justice in the Nepal Constitution, 2072 BS was done as per the principles of BP Koirala.
Recalling BP’s tough decisions in the history to make the citizens sovereign and empowered, he said they also remembered BP while taking crucial political decisions.
He claimed the present constitution has secured several rights of the citizens in line with the principles of BP Koirala.
It would be true tribute to BP Koirala when the government and political parties genuinely honestly worked to further boost confidence among the people, DPM Khadka noted.
On the same occasion, DPM Khadka offered floral tribute to the idols of the NC founders BP Koirala, Ganeshman Singh and Krishna Prasad Bhatatrai among others in Sundarijal-based BP Museum and also planted saplings in the premises.
Also on the same occasion, Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Sudan Kiranti said BP’s thoughts to establish political philosophy being based on Nepali soil were still relevant. He recalled that BP had developed a system to put image of poor peasants in the planning commission as part of his home-grown political philosophy.
The host ministry has jointly honoured Kul Bahadur Gurung and Dhundiraj Sharma Poudel Shashtri with the BP Koirala National Award, 2079 BS towards the political genre.
Likewise, towards literary genre, BP Koirala National Award has been conferred on Devi Prasad Regmi and Giriraj Acharya. The award carries a purse of Rs 100,000 each. RSS
