NMA and Mountain Academy agree for collaboration

Kathmandu / Oct 16: Nepal Mountain Academy and the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) have signed an agreement for mutual understanding and cooperation in sustainable development and promotion of mountain tourism.

As per the agreement, both sides are bound to collaborate for human resources development, and operation of training and orientation.

Likewise, the Academy will not conduct basic and advanced mountaineering training being regularly organized by the Association.

Academy President Ungdi Tshring Sherpa and NMA President Nima Nuru Sherpa signed on the document today.

The Academy expressed hope that the agreement would help further consolidate the both organizations, contributing to overall development of mountain tourism while NMA President said the Academy will work on the theoretical aspects of mountain tourism while NMA promotes it practically by avoiding the chances of duplication.

The NMA, through the agreement, secures 20 percent quotas in its training for students of Academy education programmes.

Similarly, the NMA is to ensure full scholarship to at least one student from Bachelor’s and Master degree programmes being operated by the Academy in each academic session. The term of the agreement is five years.
