UN Secretary-General visiting Nepal from Oct 29

Kathmandu / Oct. 27: United Nations (UN) Secretary- General António Guterres will be visiting Nepal from October 29 to November 1, at an invitation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

The UN Secretary General will be arriving on an official visit to Nepal first time since he assumed the office in January 2017.During the visit, he will address a joint session of the Federal Parliament on October 3. Likewise, he is scheduled to observe the impact of climate change in the mountain and will held a brief interaction with the affected community.

Additionally, he is scheduled to visit Lumbini, the birthplace of Gautam Budhha, and Pokhara. His entourage will include UN Under Secretary-General for Peace Operations, Jean-Pierre Lacroix; UN resident coordinator in Nepal, Hanaa Singer-Hamdy, and other officials from the UN Headquarters in New York and a team from the UN Nepal.
