One can now show one’s driver’s license via Nagarik App during routine traffic checks
Kathmandu / Oct 30: In a progressive step towards modernizing traffic management, drivers can now present their digital driver’s licenses via the Nagarik App during routine checks, without infringing on traffic regulations.
The National Information Technology Center (NITC) has confirmed that, following the decision by the Council of Ministers, driver’s licenses registered on the Nagarik App are officially recognized during inspections.
An official from the NITC reported that the police headquarters has already issued a directive to subordinate traffic offices. “The driver’s license displayed on the Nagarik App does not replace the physical license in situations requiring immediate traffic enforcement action,” the official explained. “However, it is entirely acceptable to use the digital license solely for presenting proof of licensing when one is not carrying the physical license.”
Furthermore, the government is in the process of integrating vehicle registration details into the Nagarik App, along with records of individuals who have received traffic rule violation citations. This initiative aims to streamline the work of traffic police while checking vehicles.
The NITC has urged all drivers to link their driver’s licenses to the Nagarik App for seamless verification and compliance.
