Our role on COP28 will be to present claim on climate

Kathmandu / Nov.3: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’ Prachanda’ said that this time claim needs to be submitted clearly for a solution to the problems faced by Nepal due to climate change.

PM Prachanda said, “Nepal can take an important step in regard to climate change issue. We should present ourselves on this issue in such that we lead the world on this issue.”

In a discussion with the secretaries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Ministry of Forests and Environment about how Nepal is going to present itself at COP28, PM Prachanda said that this time an effective and powerful claim needs to be presented on climate change action.

In the meeting, a briefing on preparations for COP28, and the preparation taking underway by Nepal were discussed.

PM said, “We are a leader on this issue. Our documents should have the strength to portray us as a leader. We need to present ourselves in such a way that the climate change contributors are questioned about their role in climate change and their lack of attempts and commitments to reduce climate change. You are the contributor to climate change and the impact of climate change is felt on countries like us. This time we will present ourselves as the claimers.”

PM Prachanda said that a conference will be held on November 21. The government is preparing to present the conclusions of the conference, COP28.

According to Prime Minister Prachanda, it should be firmly maintained that the support coming on the course of action to reduce climate change and its adversities should be through the government.
