PM, Ministers to donate one month’s salary to quake victims relief fund; Govt. decides to establish embassy in portugal
Kathmandu / Nov 9: The Prime Minister and ministers have decided to donate one month’s salary to the earthquake-affected victims in Jajarkot and Rukum West.
While announcing the decision of the Cabinet meeting held on Thursday, Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, said that it was decided to donate one month’s salary of the Prime Minister and the members of the Cabinet to the earthquake victims’ relief fund.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to allocate Rs 5 per liter from the infrastructure development tax levied on fuel for the construction of the Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project.
Govt to promote three cricket stadiums as national pride project
The government has decided to take forward the construction of three cricket stadiums as a project of national pride.
Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma, said that it has been decided to proceed with the construction of cricket stadia in Biratnagar of Morang and Mulpani of Kathmandu and Bharatpur Cricket Stadium in Chitwan as a project of national pride.
She said that the government has prioritized the construction of cricket stadia, considering Nepal’s potential in the sport of cricket.
Likewishe the government has decided to establish a Nepali Embassy in Portugal.
It recommended the name of Sanil Nepal to head the mission, according to Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma, who is also the government spokesperson.
As per the constitutional provision, the President appoints diplomats to their positions in the designated countries once their names are endorsed by the parliamentary hearing committee following the recommendation by the government.
It is estimated that over 20,000 Nepalis are currently living in Portugal.
Nepal and Portugal established diplomatic relations on September 1, 1976. Nepal’s ambassador to France is concurrently accredited to Portugal while the Portuguese Embassy in New Delhi is concurrently accredited to Nepal. Similarly, the countries have maintained their Consulates in each other’s capitals.
