Nepal suffers 27-run loss against Tanzania
Kathmandu / Nov. 15: Tanzania registered a 27-run victory over Nepal in the opening match of the Hong Kong T20I Quadrangular Series held at the Hong Kong Cricket Club on Wednesday.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Tanzania posted 115-7 in the stipulated 20 overs.
Hudaa Omary top-scored for Tanzania, putting 25 runs off 26 balls before being run out by Asmina Karmacharya in 19.4 overs.
Aisha Mohamed put 21 runs facing as many deliveries while opener Saum Mtae also managed a 25-knock 16.
Likewise, captain Fatima Kibasu made 11 runs facing 15 deliveries while Monica Pascal also contributed 10 runs. None of the other Tanzanian batters scored in double digits.
Chasing the 116-run target, Nepal’s batting line crumbled as the top order was dismissed cheaply in quick succession. Opener Bindu Rawal was sent for a duck in just the second ball of the innings.
Rawal’s opening partner Puja Mahato was also dismissed for a meagre 7-ball 3.
Samjhana Khadka was also dismissed for null after being caught by Sophia Jerome off Neema Pius in 1.3 overs while wicketkeeper Kajal Shrestha was run out for a 9-ball 9.
Former captain Rubina Chhetry was next to go, being sent for a golden duck in 4.6 overs while captain Indu Barma smashed two hits to the fence, scoring 15 runs off 18 balls.
Sita Rana Magar provided some much-needed respite as she fired four sixes to put 43 runs off 31 balls on the scoreboard. However, the hope was shortlived with her departure in 16.3 overs.
Nepal was bundled for 88 runs in 16.5 overs.
