Govt committed to provide clean drinking water to city dwellers: PM Prachanda

Lalitpur / Dec 18: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the federal government is committed to providing clean and safe drinking water to the city dwellers.

Addressing the program organized on the occasion of the 105th anniversary of the Lalitpur Metropolitan City on Monday, the PM said that the federal government is committed to supplying clean and safe drinking water to the residents of the metropolis by solving the water problem.

He said that there will be coordination and support of the government for other aspects of human development and the development of physical infrastructure. Serious discussion on the garbage management of the Kathmandu Valley has been ongoing.

“The federal government is aware that the problem of debris, especially in the Kathmandu Valley, is a fundamental problem at all local levels in Kathmandu. We all are aware that serious discussions and conscious efforts are being made for the scientific and long-term management of garbage. Therefore, on my own imitative, several meetings and initiatives have been taken to solve the problem,” he said.

According to PM, the federal government is clear that debris management should not be traditionally solved, but, should be done through long-term management with modern technological methods and should be linked to sources of income and job opportunities.

He said, “Therefore, I request the metropolis to focus on long-term and result-oriented management while informing that there will be full support of federal government to the efforts that the metropolis.”
