SC seeks detailed report of Patan High Court’s order to send Rayamajhi and Pandey to jail

Kathmandu / Jan 1: The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the Patan High Court to submit its reasons for ordering the detention of UML leader Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and Secretary Teknarayan Pandey, who are allegedly involved in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam.

The bench of Justice Kumar Regmi has ordered for the submission of ‘Detailed Report’ of the order to keep Rayamajhi and Pandey in custody. The term ‘Detailed Report’ refers to a comprehensive account of the reasons and basis on which the judicial order for detention was made.

Rayamajhi and Pandey, in response to the Patan High Court’s decision to detain them and proceed with the trial, filed a petition in the SC. Following the hearing on the petition, Justice Regmi’s bench instructed the submission of the detailed report, along with the case file, from the Patan High Court.

Former minister Rayamajhi and Secretary Pandey, who are allegedly involved in the fake Bhutanese refugee scam, were ordered to be detained by the Kathmandu District Court. The District Court’s order was also upheld by the Patan High Court.
