FTTH network reaches Rukum East and West connecting 74 districts

Kathmandu / Jan 10: Minister for Communications and Information Technology Rekha Sharma has launched the fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network in Rukum East and West.

The Minister virtually initiated the service by extending the transmission link through the telecom infrastructure optical fibre network to Rukumkot of Rukum East and to Musikot of Rukum West, amidst a programme organized at the Ministry today.

On the occasion, Minister Sharma, also the government spokesperson, said that she was pleased to link the youngest district of the country with FTTH and expressed the commitment to extend this service to Humla and Dolpa as well.

“The government is committed for the development of information and technology. Internet services have to be extended to the districts hit by the latest earthquake,” she said. The government spokesperson opined that the development of communication is inevitable as its development has an impact on other sectors.

Lawmaker Purna Bahadur Gharti said linking up of information technology in Rukum is a positive development.

Ministry secretary and chairman of Nepal Telecom board of directors, Krishna Bahadur Raut, directed the bodies concerned to provide quality services to the customers.

Nepal Telecom managing director Sangita Pahadi shared on the occasion that the 4G service has been extended to 74 districts of the country so far.RSS
