Printing of postage stamps within country resumes after 64 years

Kathmandu / Feb 16: The government has started to print postage stamp within the country after 64 years of gap.

The postage stamp used to be printed in the country till 1960 but after that it used to get printed in other countries.

Postal Service Department in coordination with the Janak Education Material Center Limited has now started the printing of the stamps.

The government has estimated that a good chunk of state fund will be saved as the cost of printing of the stamps within the country will be at a lower price.

Minister for Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma post marked the newly printed stamps amidst a function today.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Sharma said it was the primary obligation of the state to respect historical dignitaries of the country who contributed to political and social changes, according to the Minister’s secretariat.

The government has published postage stamps marked with pictures of martyrs Kami Budha, Ram Brikshya Yadav, Netra Lal Paudel ‘Abhagi and historical figure Sahana Pradhan in addition to different natural and cultural heritage.
