CIAA files case against 15 including Melamchi Board’s former chair

Kathmandu / Feb 18: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) registered a case at the Special Court against more than 15 persons including the then Chairman of Melamchi Water Supply Development Board (MWSDB) and the then Secretary of Ministry of Water Supply Bhim Upadhyay on the charge of corruption.

According to the spokesperson of CIAA Narahari Acharya, a case of corruption of Rs. 41,134,279 was filed against Upadhyay as per the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 (2002 A.D).

Similarly, cases of corruption of Rs 69,783,178 each were filed against the then chair of the Board and secretary of the Ministry of Water Supply Dr Sanjay Sharma, and the then joint Secretary of the Finance Ministry and board member of MWSDB Mukunda Prasad Paudel.
