Home ministry directs district administrations to submit report on illegal encroachment of public land
Kathmandu / Feb 22: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) has issued a call to report instances of encroachment upon public and government lands.
In a statement, the MoHA urged the public to provide information regarding any encroachments or attempts to register public or government-owned land under private ownership.
The MoHA issued a notice highlighting the cases where individuals are involved in the unauthorized privatization of public or government lands. The MoHA has ensured initiating the necessary procedures to reclaim such encroached lands.
Additionally, the MoHA has dispatched letters to all district administration offices, instructing them to collaborate with relevant authorities to take appropriate action against land encroachers.
“It has been found that various incidents of government lands, leased for specific purposes, have been illegally encroached and used for purposes different than the stated at the time of agreement with the government [if any],” reads the notice issued by the ministry.
The government has prioritised regaining the authority of such areas and taking legal actions against all those found guilty, the ministry said.
The ministry also requested anyone with information or proof against those involved in such encroachment to report to the district administration office concerned.
