China announces implementation of free visa for Nepali citizens

Kathmandu / April 28: China has announced free visa for Nepali citizens, effective from May 1, 2024.

The Chinese Embassy in Nepal has decided not to accept fees for Chinese visas from Nepali citizens from May 1, 2024.

Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song said that such a decision was taken to promote the relationship between the two countries and enhance service convenience.

However, while the regular visa itself is free of charge, there will be an express fee and service fee applicable. According to the Embassy, the express visa service ranges from Rs 2,700 to Rs 4,000.

Nepal already exempts Chinese citizens from visa fees. During a recent visit to China, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha had urged the Chinese authorities to grant visa-free access to Nepali citizens.
