Kathmandu / Aug 2: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has officially opened the bidding process for the Nepal Premier League (NPL) franchise.

CAN has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) inviting both Nepali and international companies to invest in the cricket franchise.

Companies interested in bidding must submit their applications by August 16. The RFP form must be completed, accompanied by a non-refundable fee of Rs 100,000.

CAN has outlined specific qualifications for bidders. Companies must be registered with the Office of the Registrar, be VAT-registered, and have a valid tax clearance certificate.

Additionally, foreign bidders are allowed to participate through a joint venture with a Nepali company. Companies with histories of criminal charges, financial fraud, or money laundering are disqualified.

Last year, CAN hosted the Nepal T20 League in collaboration with Indian company Seven3 Sports. The central working committee of CAN, in its meeting on July 5, decided to schedule the NPL for November/December.
