1300 renal transplants conducted in Shahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Center

Kathmandu / Aug. 29: Shahid Dharmabhakta National Transplant Center, Bhaktapur, has successfully conducted renal transplant to 1300 individuals and liver transplant to 28 individuals in a period of 12 years.

The success has been considered as a milestone in the health sector of the country.

The Center marked its success by organising a programme on organ donation in the aftermath of brain death and the transplant.

Addressing the programme, Chief Secretary Leela Devi Gadtaula, expressed happiness over the success of the Center and thanked it for the service to the people.

She labeled the Center as the pride of nation for providing world standard services and expressed commitment to provide land for the Center, according to the press release issued on Wednesday by the Center.

Dr. Pukar Chandra Shrestha, executive director and senior renal and liver transplant expert of the Center, said that the Center was able to get success due to the hard work of all the employees of the Center.

He also demanded that the government should provide land to the Center for extending its services as the Center had not even an inch of its own land and building.

He said the government could provide 100 ropanis of land out of 258 ropanis kept in the ownership of the ministry of industry at Surya Binayak Municipality in Bhaktapur for the Center to build its hospital building and extend services.
