Over 700,000 tourists visit Nepal in eight months

Kathmandu / Sep 2: Over 700,000 tourists have visited Nepal in the last eight months. According to Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), from January to August 2024, 720,334 tourists visited Nepal.

In August alone, 72,719 tourists arrived in Nepal, compared to 67,153 tourists in August of the previous year (2023) and 41,304 tourists in August 2022.

However, these numbers are lower compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic when 94,749 tourists visited in August 2019.

This time, the highest number of tourists came from India, with 25,832 tourists in this one month. Additionally, 6,614 tourists are from China, 5,614 from the United States, 4,851 from Sri Lanka, and 3,077 from Bangladesh.

According to the NTB, 79,100 tourists arrived in January, 79,426 in February, 128,167 in March, 111,376 in April, and 90,211 in May. Similarly, 76,736 tourists arrived in June, 64,599 in July, and 72,719 in August.
