Minister Khadka and Norwegian Ambassador discuss potential cooperation

Kathmandu / Oct 1: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dipak Khadka, and Ambassador of Norway to Nepal, Torun Dramdal held a meeting on Tuesday.

On the occasion, they discussed the matters of Nepal-Norway relations and mutual concern and interest.

Minister Khadka shared that Norway is an important development partner of Nepal and the Government of Norway has been providing support in the energy sector for more than 60 years.

Stating that the contribution of the Norwegian government to achieve goals of sustainable energy and economic growth and to the power production has been crucial, he lauded the significant role of the Government of Norway in power transmission and distribution of Nepal.

Minister Khadka pointed out the need of expanding power production capacity as well as immediate reform in transmission line, sub-station and rural electrification while expecting support from Norway for such programs, said Minister Khadka’s Private Secretariat.

Similarly, Ambassador Dramdal said that the Norwegian government is always ready to extend support in the development of Nepal’s hydropower sector.

The Norwegian government has been providing scholarships to Nepali students pursuing higher education related to hydropower in Norway, he mentioned, adding the Government of Norway would provide support in development of transmission lines in the days to come. RSS
