Nearly 800 thousand leave Kathmandu for hometowns to celebrate Dashain

Kathmandu / Oct 10: Nearly 800 thousand people have left Kathmandu for their hometowns to celebrate Dashain so far.

According to Federation of Nepal National Transport Entrepreneurs Associations (FNNTEA), a million people are expected to leave for Dashain this year.

Bijay Swar, chairman of the FNTTEA, assessed that less than estimated people had left Kathmandu for hometowns due to the disruption in road transport caused by the recent landslides and floods.

“The roads are not good and the general people are compelled to face difficulties during travels due to road conditions,” he said, “Many people who have home outside Kathmandu have decided to celebrate Dashain in Kathmandu while many others have opted for air travel.”

He said that the tentatively final records will be available by Friday evening as people will travel home till tomorrow evening for Dashain. RSS
