Let’s cope with crisis unitedly: Prime Minister Oli

Kathmandu / Oct 18: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on the three-tier governments to engage in the relief distribution and recovery efforts in the aftermath of recent flooding and landslides caused by incessant rains.

The nonstop rains occurred on September 27-28 had wreaked havoc in 14 districts including the federal capital, Kathmandu.

He urged the government at three levels to consider the post-disaster as a crisis like that of the 2015 Gorkha earthquake and address the situation accordingly.

In the 14th meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management National Council on Friday, the Prime Minister claimed the post-disaster rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts are underway bearing in mind the gravity of the situation.

He wanted the three-tier governments to act in a coordinated and collaborative approach to deal with the situation by focusing the attention to the guarantee of relief assistance and shelter for the survivors.

PM Oli also thanked the Ministry of Physical Infrastructures and Transport, security agencies and all the bodies concerned for applying all possible measures to restore the damaged roadways before the Dashain festival.RSS
