PM Deuba pledges to convert Geta Medical College into Academy

Sudurpaschim / June 18: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba reaffirmed his commitment to helping convert Geta Medical College into an Academy.

Inaugurating the newly built administrative building of Dhangadi Sub-Metropolitan City in the Sub-Metropolis’s premises today, PM Deuba assured to help proposed Geta Medical College come into operation by introducing Bills related to the Academy through the Council of Ministers.

The newly inaugurated building was jointly built by the Dhangadi Sub-Metropolis and the government of Nepal at the cost of Rs 72.3 million. The five-storey building has 35 rooms.

Deuba expressed his happiness over the proposal regarding the operation of Geta Medical Colleg. Furthermore, he pledged to take initiatives to facilitate trade through Gaurifanta Checkpoint.

Citing that the Mohana River flowing along the Nepal-India border has been eroding the land of both countries, the Head of the Government said that initiatives will be taken to prevent the eroding.

He spoke of the need to curb land encroachment and underscore the conservation of forests to make Dhangadi a well-managed and beautiful town.

Pressing for coordination and cooperation between local and provincial governments to take forward the development works in the wake of the implementation of federalism in the country, Deuba expressed his concern over the lackadaisical attitude in the bureaucracy to deliver public services.

Similarly, Sudurpaschim Province Chief Minister Trilochan Bhatta articulated the provincial government’s willingness to collaborate with the local level for development endeavours.

He spoke of the need to implement Paschim Seti Hydropower Project and proposed Geta Medical College at the earliest.

Likewise, Dhangadi Sub-Metropolitan City mayor Gopal Hamal shared that a five-year plan of action was formulated by Sub-metropolis since he assumed his office. “I am ready to coordinate efforts with the provincial and federal government for the prosperity and development of Dhangadi Sub-Metropolitan City.”
