SC decides not to be present in Impeachment Recommendation Committee
Kathmandu / Sept. 14: The Supreme Court has decided not to participate in the Impeachment Recommendation Committee of the Federal Parliament.
A full bench of the SC made a decision to this effect today, according to a statement of the acting principal registrar of the SC, Narayan Prasad Panthi.
The Impeachment Recommendation Committee had written to the officiating chief justice and other justices of the SC to be present in its meeting to be held on September 15.
The SC full bench decided that it would go against norms upheld by the constitution of Nepal, principle of separation of powers and independent judiciary to participate in the Impeachment Recommendation Committee and question-answer session.
